About Fragrance Lamps
Similar lamps were used in late nineteenth century hospitals to sanitise wards. But do Ashleigh & Burwood Catalytic Lamps really work against airborne 'bugs'? The answer is 'Yes'. Independent tests conducted for Ashleigh & Burwood give the following results for destruction of airborne micro-organisms: Dust mites – 99% mortality rate; Escherichia coli bacteria (E. coli) – 99%; Five types of mould spores: Aspergillus niger – 61.5 %, Eurotium amsterdami – 79.6%, Stachybotrys chartarum – 99.9%, Penicillium crustosum – 99.9%, and Chaetomium globosum – 99.9%. The lamps are safe as, once you have lit the wick, the flame is blown out after a couple of minutes, after which the wick stays hot and is covered by an attractive cap. Ashleigh & Burwood's Fragrance Lamps are made from glass and are hand finished, often in mosaic patterns. They come in a box with a funnel and full instructions for use. Ashleigh & Burwood recommend that their Fragrance Lamps should only be used with their own Lamp Fragrance. Use of other fragrance may result in damage to the lamp wick. |
